The Pierce Corporate Finance Team, led by Director Kevin Stevens, provided advice and support to Tony Anderton, Managing Director of Merlin Engineering (Bolton) Ltd in the acquisition of shares in a management buyout.
Merlin Engineering is a family business based in Bolton which provides specialist pre-production design and precision engineering services. The company serves a wide range of industry sectors including Packaging, Medical, Printing, High-End Cycle Manufacturer, Industrial Door, Rail Industry, and Commercial Vehicle markets.
The buyout wasn't without its problems, with the shares being held in trusts. Taking advantage of specialists within the firm, Pierce conducted a full tax review and obtained advance approval from HMRC with regard to the transaction.
